20 Years Ago/ 20年前

Our company has 5 employees that are “parents.” Including one that is going to be a “parent,” there are 6.
Their kids are 0-3 years old. Since the parents belong to the same generation, their kids do as well. Those kids will be working in the society only after 20 years. Can you imagine what Japan, or even our world, would be like?

Then, I quickly researched what happened 20 years ago.
- The emperor Hirohito passed away.
- Nintendo released “Gameboy.”
- Nintendo released “Tetris.” Tetris boom occurred.
- The U.S. president George H. W. Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev, the head of state of the USSR General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, had a meeting in Malta Istand and declared the end of Cold War.
- The Berlin Wall crumbled.
- Tiananmen Square Protests happened.

At that time, Japan was in booming economy called bubble boom.
- At the closing session of the year of Tokyo Stock Exchange, the Nikkei Stock Average recorded the highest value 38,915.87 yen.
- ”♪Can you work 24 hours a day?” by Regain (TV commercial song of energy drink) got extremely popular.

Something like that, when I was a fresh teenager… We didn’t have cell phones, even pagers. Who could imagin B・P・M? Who did expect that the today’s world would come?
Twenty years later from now, how the world will be changed? What about BPM?

我が社には、「親」が5人います。もうすぐ「親」になる人を含めると6人います。
彼らの子供達は、0~3歳。親も同世代なら子供も同世代です。
その子供達、あと20年もすれば立派に社会で働くようになるわけですが、その頃日本って、いや、世界ってどうなってんでしょねー。
ってことで、今から20年前ってちなみにどんなんだったんだろうとちょいと調査してみました。

・昭和天皇崩御
・任天堂「ゲームボーイ」を発売
・任天堂『テトリス』発売。テトリスブーム到来
・ジョージ・H・W・ブッシュ米国大統領とミハイル・ゴルバチョフソ連最高会議幹部会議長兼ソ連・共産党書記長がマルタ島で会談、冷戦の終結を宣言
・ベルリンの壁崩壊
・天安門事件

日本はその時、バブル景気と呼ばれた好景気にありました。
・東証の日経平均株価が大納会で史上最高値の38,915円87銭を記録
・♪24時間たたかえますか by リゲイン(CM) 大流行

そんな時代だったんです。私がまだ麗しきティーンエイジャーの頃・・・。まだ携帯はおろかポケベルさえなかった時代です。ましてや、びーぴーえむ？？ハァ？な時代です。今のような時代になるといったい誰が想像していたでしょう。
今から20年後、世界はどこに向かうのでしょう。BPMはどうなっていくのでしょう。
