Greenwich Mean Time / グリニッジ標準時

We have released a new version of Questetra BPM Suite. We made it.
It was released at 9 a.m. in Japanese Standard Time, and in the press release in the English version, I was asked to write it in World Standard Time.

Then, I got confused about the idea of Daylight Saving Time/Summer Time. Usually, the time gap between the Standard Time and Japan Time is 9h. But, during DST, it is 8h. "Greenwich Time is the Standard, but how come it applies the Summer Time!?" I came into getting confused.

It would seem that Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) had been the Standard Time until 1972, and since then, an artificial Universal Time, Coordinated (UTC) has been used. Oh, I see.

As you may know, Greenwich is a place in the suburb of London. Though the spelling is like this, you pronounce "GRIN-idge" in traditional British English. Am I correct? You say "GRIN-witch" in American English. Is this right?

で、だんだんわからなくなってきたのが夏時間の考え方。
普段、標準時と日本時間の差は9時間。でも夏時間では8時間に減ります。
つまり標準時のグリニッジは、標準の場所なのに夏時間で時間変えちゃってるの！？　と、気づく。

どうやらグリニッジGreenwich Mean Time（GMT）は1972年までの標準時で、それ以降は人工的に協定世界時 Universal Time, Coordinated (UTC)を設定したみたいです。なるほど。

グリニッジってロンドン郊外の町でGreenwichと綴ります。このスペルなのに、昔ながらのブリティッシュ英語ではグリニッジと発音するようです。米語の発音ではグリンウィッチのようです。
